10 ways to take care of yourself | In just a few minutes

We all know that as moms, we tend to forget to take care of ourselves. We cross oceans for our children and hubbies but rarely make the time for US. In fact, most times we don’t have the extra time needed to dedicate towards such ‘luxuries’. After preparing meals, feeding babies, giving baths, playing games, chasing toddlers, cleaning homes, a tough day at work etc., we’re way too tired to workout, or even look at a 30 minute comedy whilst being sprawled off on the couch. Too often, we’re trying to fight to get a restful 4 hours of night sleep (and not consecutively if you count baby feedings, night time bathroom breaks, toddler nightmares, 3 am play date with mom, [insert a million other reasons why kids hate to sleep at night here]). Trust me, I totally get it. But here’s the thing… Taking care of yourself doesn’t always have to be annoyingly time consuming. There are some simple things that you can do that will not only make you feel better, but will have you looking like a million bucks. And get this… It will only take up a few minutes of your day!

Drink 6-8 Glasses of Water

TIME: 3-4 minutes at 30 seconds per glass.

TIP: Drink at least one glass every hour so you can keep track and ensure that you’re properly hydrated.

BENEFITS: Maintains the balance of body fluids = healthier you, choosing this over high calorie beverage can help you lose weight = hello sexy mama!, skin looks younger, healthy, glowing and smooth.

Don’t Skip Meals

TIME: 30 minutes at 10 minutes per meal.

TIP: Wake up earlier so you can have breakfast and coffee quietly over a newspaper or magazine. It really sets the tone for the day.

BENEFITS: Eating three healthy meals will provide you with sufficient nutrients. You feel more energized.

Take Vitamins Daily

TIME: 5 seconds.

TIP: Make it part of your routine so that you don’t forget. e.g. Take it right after breakfast every morning.

Trust me, I’ve had days like this but ALWAYS find that a shower in the morning makes me feel so much better. A warm bath also helps you feel better at night. Comb Your Hair

TIME: 2 minutes.

TIP: Do this after every bath.

BENEFITS: Healthier, shinier hair due to increased circulation of blood, cleansing and retention of natural oils.

(Also, take care of hair by moisturizing, getting regular trims and ensuring split ends are kept to a minimum)

Moisturize Your Skin

TIME: 3 minutes.

TIP: Use body lotion several times a day.

BENEFITS: Skin looks soft, pretty and feels rejuvenated.

Exercise.Can’t Find the Time to Workout Or Go to the Gym? No Problem! Find Every Reason to Burn Some Calories and Work Your Legs

TIP: Use stairs instead of elevator. Park further from the entrance so you can walk there. Give your toddler something he doesn’t usually get to play with and run around the house trying to catch him to get it back. I guarantee this will be one of the hardest tasks in your life.

Of course, you need not do every single thing on the list every single day, and for some ladies, a task might take a shorter or longer time period depending on your circumstances. The point of this list was to show you that doing simple things for yourself will not take up your entire day and you still have most of your hours to dedicate to your family.
